Family First NZ says that Prime Minister John Key is 'softening the ground' for an amendment of the anti-smacking law after labelling the law a 'dog's breakfast' and admitting that the Boscawen amendment is the solution.
In a radio interview on Friday with Michael Laws on Radio Live, John Key said "it's a complete and utter dog's breakfast - let's acknowledge that", that it's badly drafted, "extremely vague", and "we believe the Borrows amendment was the right place to settle."
"It is significant that this is the first time that the PM has blatantly admitted it's an atrocious law and acknowledged the solution being the Borrows amendment which is now the Boscawen amendment. He should now fix the law under urgency for the sake of good parents in NZ."
"The benchmark originally set by the PM was good parents being prosecuted for light smacking. Family First has already provided substantive evidence of prosecutions and children being removed temporarily by CYF for open hand smacks on the leg and bottom with no injury or harm."
"Parents don't want to be dog tucker for a flawed law," says Mr McCoskrie.
Mr Key also acknowledged that the anti-smacking law labelled parents who used a smack as child abusers which he said was "bloody wrong".
"The 88% 'No' vote in the Referendum confirms that Mr Key should act now, decriminalise light smacking, and then appoint a Royal Commission to identify and tackle the real causes of child abuse," says Mr McCoskrie

Key like all good parents...
We will forgive you and kiss and make up speedily when we can see you have stopped your rebellion and accepted that doing the right thing is for you and not just for others.
We will continue to give you time out and smack you and remove you forcebly from causing trouble and disrupting society if you don't.
It is called good parenting.
Now save your hide/pride and be a good politician.
You only have to throw it open to parlaiment and stop using force to prevent democracy.
Naughty Children sacrifice their future to sastisfy their immediate pride, Self Gratification and to please bad friends that influence them.
It is not good for you or anyone including the Bad friends you have to do that that. Cultivating pride without exception undermines you on exactly the thing in which you are proud. The person that likes to flash money around makes them self poor doing so. The person proud of their power to rule as they see fit loses that power.
And if you tolerate the peer pressure your Bad friends are putting on you they will just become stronger as they bully you and use you again and again. And that is sad fo even them! Because no Bully is really happy deep down inside.
You must Defy Sue and the others that certainly are their using unreasonable force to dominate you and a nation.
You must Do What you know deep down is Right!

You can't push water up hill! Don't try! It will make you look the foolish one as well as you not achieving your goal in the end.
