President of Parliamentarians for Global Action and Labour MP Ross Robertson has expressed his sympathy on the death of Dr Noor Jehan Panezai, former PGA member and co-founder of the PGA Pakistan National Group.

"I am saddened to learn of Dr Panezai’s passing," said Ross Robertson.

"She was a rare leader with the courage and conviction to stand up for difficult issues regardless of personal risk. She was a leading member of the PGA working group of legislators, a strong supporter of open discussion about HIV/AIDS, and a tireless advocate for reproductive health and rights.

"Dr Panezai brought together Pakistani MPs from diverse political and ethnic backgrounds to create the PGA Pakistan National Group in 2004, in which every party was represented, and women and men had an equal voice. Since then this National Group has withstood through many trying circumstances, a tribute to the work of this courageous politician," he said.

"On behalf of PGA, I extend to Dr Panezai’s family sincere condolences and deepest sympathy in the loss of a remarkable woman. I know that no words can really touch the grief and sadness that her friends and family feel, but I am sure their kindness and support will be of comfort at this sad time," said Ross Robertson.
