Labour Disabilities Issues Spokesperson Lynne Pillay MP today congratulated Adam Hall on winning the gold medal in the men's standing slalom at the 2010 Winter Paralympics.
"We are impressed and proud of Adam, this is an excellent achievement for an outstanding young man," said Lynne Pillay.
"Adam, who is now 22, was born with Spina Bifida - a disability that has not held him back. His story is truly inspirational and recently has starred on the Sunday programme and Attitude TV.
"The 2010 Winter Paralympics, which is currently being held in Vancouver, Canada is an excellent opportunity to showcase to the world that the abilities, determination and drive of high calibre athletes with disabilities who are representing their nations at the highest levels.
"This time last year Adam was competing at the ICP Alpine World Championships in South Korea where he won the silver medal in the slalom, a great run up to his gold medal.
"Adam is an inspiration, not only to disabled people, but to all New Zealanders who set goals and go to great lengths to achieve them," said Lynne Pillay.
