Corrections Minister Phil Goff continues to run a department that is sadly out of touch with what the public expects of its prison service, says National's Justice & Corrections spokesman, Simon Power.

"The ability of convicted killer Antonie Dixon to access and post entries and photos of himself on a website from his prison cell should have Phil Goff very embarrassed.

"This latest episode is a further example of how out of touch Mr Goff's department is.

"Prisons are supposed to be places of punishment and rehabilitation, although when Corrections Assistant General Manager Bryan McMurray says 'people don't go to prison to be punished' you do have to wonder about this Government's attitude.

"Remember, this is the system that allows prisoners to watch R-rated movies, view TV on LCD screens, play Playstation games, and now put material on MySpace.

"This Government should be addressing these questions, not continuing to deny they exist."
