Alliance Party media release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday 14 September 2010
The Alliance Party is hosting a public meeting on local election issues in Wellington on Sunday 19 September. It's free and open to the public. Four progressive candidates for local office will give short presentations on selected topics.
Mayoral candidate and Wellington City Councillor Bryan Pepperell will speak on the constant increase of rates on residents and decrease of rates on business, and on the urgent necessity to bring the management of the domestic water supply back to public ownership and control.
Mayoral candidate and local businessman Jack Yan will speak on his plan to boost Wellington's IT infrastructure with free wi-fi.
Wellington Regional Councillor and Capital and Coast District Health Board member Judith Aitken will speak on the underfunding of the District Health Board.
Wellington Regional Councillor and Green Party representative Paul Bruce will speak on the importance of low cost public transport for Wellington people.
The meeting will be held at 2pm at Connolly Hall, on Guildford Terrace off Hill Street, Thorndon, Wellington on Sunday 19 September 2010.
