7 April 2009 - With all the pressures of the modern world, keeping healthy can be a struggle but it is the core message Tariana Turia is pushing today as part of World Health Day.

"It's our dream to see Maori and Pacific nations, and all peoples of this country, keep healthy so they can live longer," Mrs Turia said.

"Up and down the country, people are heeding the keep healthy, live longer message and one common point of inspiration and motivation for them has been their whanau - their desire to be around to see their children and mokopuna grow."

There's a lot people can do to help themselves like growing their kai, collecting kai from natural sources, exercise regularly and see a doctor if they are feeling unwell - early treatment can stop them from getting sicker, Mrs Turia said.
