Wellington, Oct 7 NZPA - Views are being sought on no postal delivery for four days over Christmas and New Year when those holidays fall on a Saturday.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Steven Joyce today said the Government was consulting on New Zealand Post's proposal to change its deed of understanding with the Government.
The deed sets out price, service and social responsibilities for the company.
The changes were:
* To allow posties a four-day holiday break when the Christmas and New Year statutory days fall on a Saturday.
* and to clarify the terms on which New Zealand Post is obliged to provide services to other postal operators.
Mr Joyce encouraged people to comment on the options.
