On Wednesday 12 September, Dave Watson, Tararua Council Utilities Manager and Eric Bonny, Utilities Engineer met with Council water portfolio holders Keith Fenemor and Warren Davidson for a tour and update on the progress at Eketahuna’s new treatment plant.

Dave Watson reports - the project is now in "full flight". The new treatment plant building is complete. The new pressure filter with Macrolite media, UV units, pumps; blowers and compressors have all arrived from Auckland. Pipe work and valves have been connected to the existing intake line and Scanpower have installed a three-phase transformer to replace the existing single phase. To top it all off - the system will be fully automated and controlled through the new Telemetry system.

Mayor Roly Ellis said, "Funding core services like drinking water is difficult for small population centres like Tararua - which means the subsidy of $381,000.00 we received from the Ministry of Health to help upgrade Eketahuna’s water supply was critical to this project being implemented."
