Wellington Lawyer To Contest Wairarapa For Labour

Wellington, Oct 11 NZPA - Wellington-based lawyer Michael Bott has been chosen as the Labour Party candidate for the Wairarapa seat in next year's election.

Mr Bott was chosen ahead of the only other nomination, Masterton resident and Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union delegate Blair Heming.

Wairarapa has traditionally been a National Party stronghold and the seat is currently held by National MP John Hayes, who received 6758 more votes in 2008 than Labour candidate Denise MacKenzie.
