When ‘Despicable Me’ came out a couple years ago, I thought it was going to be really good, as there was lots of buzz about it, but it ended up being a disappointment in the end.
I’m a big fan of this series, and even of the third one that a lot of people didn’t like, though that more comes down to Kate Beckinsale not being in it!
Found footage films are a dime a dozen these days, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some great ones being put out. So when I saw the trailer for this film I was excited as it looked interesting for a genre such as this to be told in the found footage way.
I remember really enjoying the first ‘Sione’s Wedding’, though when re-watching it a month or so back, in preparation for seeing the sequel, I was surprised to find I didn’t like it nearly as much on the second viewing, though it was still good.
When I first saw the trailer for this film I thought it ‘might’ be half decent as it looked to be directed by the guy who did ‘Wanted’ which I really liked.
I’ll see pretty much anything and even more so if it’s free! So when I got my press invite for this film, even though I hadn’t seen the first, I thought I’ll give it a go.
When a media embargo is put out on any press or feedback on the film we are about to see at the forthcoming press screening, more often than not, maybe even around 90% of the time, it’s because the film is a little bit shit.
I’ve got to admit that I have a special place in my heart for Paul W.S. Anderson, even though he is seen by many as a bit of a hack for his often ‘spectacle only’ films that lack story and good characters.
Over the years I’ve seen most of Guillermo del Toro’s movies, with the exception of a couple of his early films, and I’m a fan of his, but I also have to say that I’m not as big a fan as some people are.
