I'm one of those people lucky enough to still have child-like appreciation for cartoons and Disney Pixar movies. Yes, you heard me right. I'm lucky.

When you think of French cinema, or European cinema for that matter, you don’t exactly think of action films as their forte.

Miniscule is an animated series with lots of short episodes. The scenery is amazing, it is filmed well, the characters are very cute and I absolutely adore the music.

David Cronenberg is one of those few directors that you can just say his name and it makes people instantly have their minds skewed about what his next film will be like. Not about, but like.

As ever I went into this film not knowing anything about it, and I even thought the title was different than it was.

I’ve seen lots of French films over the years, but I don’t think many Belgium ones, which is exactly where this film was from.

‘Battleship’ had one of those trailers that made you excited, though made you think it could be all show and no substance. Well, despite it being an over the top patriotic propaganda showpiece for the US Navy, it was a decent film with some pretty cool set pieces!

Trailers can be fickle things, as they can range from representing the film perfectly, completely selling you a false promise of a good film, and even sometimes fully underselling the awesomeness that is the film.

This 2006 TV show all about ancient battles, using computer game technology to recreate the set pieces, is right up my alley, or would have been many years ago.

It’s not often the buzz around a film makes me want to read the books, as that hasn’t happened since the Harry Potter series. This film had massive hype, $150 million in three days at the box-office, and a decent trailer! The film though?
