Pilot's Body Recovered From Air Crash Site

The body of 28-year-old pilot Ben Israel Gaastra has been winched from the site where his Cessna 152 crashed yesterday evening.

He will now be taken to New Plymouth and the death has been referred to the Coroner.

Air Force Iroquois Helicopters Join In Search For Missing Aircraft

22 July -- An Air Force Iroquois helicopter has been called in to assist Rescue Coordination Centre NZ with the search for an overdue civilian aircraft approximately 50 nautical miles NNE of New Plymouth. A beacon is transmitting from the aircraft, believed to be in rough terrain.

Search Continues For Missing Plane

The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) says the search is continuing for a missing a Cessna 152 aircraft and its sole occupant.

RCCNZ began a search operation for the aircraft, after detecting a beacon alert at approximately 7.30pm last night.
