Quarter and semi-finals to be played on Friday

Due to rain forcing an abandonment of Thursdays play, both quarter and semi-finals will now be played on Friday. All three match courts will be used at the ASB Tennis Arena with play scheduled to commence at 10am.

Charge laid in relation to Tauranga death

Police have this morning arrested and charged a person in relation to the death of a man who was dropped at Tauranga Hospital with critical injuries at around 11:30am yesterday.

The victim, 58-year-old Lance Wayne Waite, died in hospital a short time later.

A 33 year old man has been charged with endangering a transport facility after a drone was flown in the area of the fire on Mt Roy in Wanaka this afternoon.

Eight helicopters battling the blaze were grounded for 15 minutes when the drone was spotted.

A diamond solitaire ring valued at over $36,000 was stolen from a central Auckland jewellery store when a man asked to look at the ring and subsequently ran off with it.
