Police lay charges after Otara stabbing incident

Police have charged two people in relation to a stabbing incident in Otara last night.

Police were called at about 9.15pm on Wednesday December 26 to reports of a woman who had sustained multiple stab wounds following an alleged dispute on Bairds Road.

A scene examination will take place today, as well as the post-mortem.

Man charged following death in Matamata

A 40-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a Matamata property yesterday afternoon.

He will appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow, 26 December.

Futher charges may be possible.

The vehicle, which had been reported stolen, crashed into a shop on Barrington Street shortly after 10pm.

The driver fled the scene but was arrested a short time later.
