Snow showers are expected to turn to rain during Wednesday morning, then turn to

snow again from about midday Wednesday.

From midday to midnight Wednesday expect 5 to 10cm snow on the higher parts of

the road.

A strong cold westerly flow is expected to continue over New Zealand Tuesday night and Wednesday. A cold front will move off to the east of the North Island Tuesday evening. Severe gales in parts of Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa should all ease by midnight Tuesday.
