Wanting the best for your teenager who is talented in their chosen sporting field is to be expected, but there are many pitfalls along the way to a scholarship, including and organisations who are in it just for quick cash.

However Platform Sports Management take legitimate care and work with parents and students all the way as they gain their scholarship to a United States College (University).

It’s a great way for an athlete to learn, improve in their sport, grow as a person and also move into the future. Gaining a degree from an American College can set a person up for life and propel them into professional sporting life as well.

For Amrit Rai the director of Platform Sports Management there’s an understanding of the concerns, the process and follow through of gaining a scholarship. Platform Sports Management is a New Zealand based US college recruitment company specilising in helping each athlete gain college placement based on their needs and requirements.

Rai, who founded Platform Sports Management in 2014 is well known in the sporting community around New Zealand and represented his province, Taranaki in various sports. He has completed a degree at Victoria University of Wellington, gaining a Bachelor of Commerce with two majors in Management and Politics

"We have placed athletes on US College scholarships from Finland, Czech Republic, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia," said Rai.

"We are partnered with some great academics such as Life Time Tennis Academy in Australia which is headed by Graeme Brimblecomb and Gary Stickler. This is the largest tennis academy in Queensland. There’s also a strong connection with Kevin Smith the coach of top golf amateur Dan Hillier and football’s Chris Zoricich a former captain of the All Whites. We have placed athletes at every single college level including NCJAA (Junior College), NCAA D3/D2/D1, and NAIA.

New Zealand has a large number of athletes in a wide variety of sports and Platform Sports Management is proud to be a part of this process, but is keen to always be transparent in an area where some can be in it to get rich quick.

"We have over 50 athletes who have gone through the college system. We are not in the business to sign as many kids as we can. For us it is a business to work one on one with our athletes personally and helping them achieve their goals. We help with SAT's and NCAA as well assisting with a video to send to our agents who are ex-college coaches who will also be distributing your information.

"At Platform Sports Management we also assist with other areas where parents and the scholarship recipients may have concerns such as Visas and travel, safety, coach transfers, plus easy and safe payment plans," says Rai
