Bangladesh Ask NZ To Bat First

Hamilton, Feb 15 NZPA - Bangladesh will make first use of helpful conditions after captain Shakib Al Hasan chose to field first following a delayed start to the one-off test against New Zealand here today.

Al Hasan had no hesitation in asking the home side to bat after winning the toss at Seddon Park.

The match was due to begin at 1pm (local time), one hour after the scheduled start following morning rain.

A thick cloud cover hung over the ground which will help the tourists swing the ball while they will also want to take full toll on any moisture left in the playing surface.

New Zealand have gone into the test with two spinners in captain Dan Vettori and Jeetan Patel, with their seam attack centred around Chris Martin, Daryl Tuffey and Tim Southee.

Bangladesh omitted Raqibul Hasan, Naeem Islam, Nazmul Hossain and Abdur Razzak from their squad, with batsman Junaid Siddique the only change from the players used during a 0-3 series loss to New Zealand.

New Zealand (from): Dan Vettori, Tim McIntosh, BJ Watling, Peter Ingram, Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum, Daryl Tuffey, Tim Southee, Jeetan Patel, Chris Martin.
