Breakthrough Away Win For Vodafone Junior Warriors

7 June 2009 - The Vodafone Junior Warriors moved into the NYC's top eight with their first away win of the season today. With their previous four wins - and a draw against Wests Tigers last week - all at Mount Smart Stadium, the Vodafone Junior Warriors accounted for the Cronulla Sharks 32-22 at Toyota Stadium, their first away win in six attempts. They led 16-6 at halftime via four unconverted tries, one of them going to right winger Bill Tupou who maintained his impressive strike rate. It was his ninth try in 11 matches this year and his 23rd in 30 NYC career matches. A Michael Afioga try immediately after halftime extended the Vodafone Junior Warriors' lead to what seemed to be a comfortable 22-6 margin only for the Sharks to react with two tries to trail just 18-22 with 25 minutes still to play. But tries to Rusty Bristow and Ben Henry made the result safe, lifting the Vodafone Junior Warriors to 13 points and eighth spot on the ladder for now. Match details:
