St Andrews, Scotland Oct 2 - New Zealand golfer has been teamed up with American actor Samuel L Jackson in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship for the second year running.

Campbell and Jackson, whose movie credits include Pulp Fiction and Shaft, will compete for the teams trophy at the Kingsbarns course, one of three hosting the $US5 million ($NZ7.58 million) tournament.

The championship incorporates two separate competitions -- an individual professional tournament and a team event in which they are paired with amateurs such as showbiz identities or ex-sports stars.

Campbell and Jackson will be joined for the opening three rounds by Scotland's Colin Montgomerie and recently retired British tennis ace Tim Henman.

They contest the second round on the Old Course at St Andrews and the third round at Carnoustie.

A cut will then be made with the leading 60 players returning to the Old Course on Sunday to compete for the 546,000 euro ($NZ1,173,941) first prize.

Campbell is contesting the event for a fifth occasion having finished 11th in 2006 but has sat out the final round in 2001-03 and last year.

This will be Campbell's final European Tour event of the year and after back-to-back third place results, he's hopeful of ending the season on a winning note.

"My game now compared to the start of the year is like comparing cheese with chalk as there's just no comparison," he said.

"I have been in a position to win in my last two tournaments and that's something I haven't enjoyed for some time.

"So it would be nice to end the season on a winning note and what better place could there be than here at the home of golf."
