After beating the Rebels 36-0 last week in Geelong, the Chiefs head to Queenstown to play the Highlanders in their first pre-season match against a New Zealand side. Whilst Chiefs Coach Dave Rennie and his coaching staff were happy with last weeks result, he knows that the match on Saturday will be a much tougher encounter. "It will be a good measure of where we are at" said Rennie as his side prepare for the kick off of the 2012 Investec Super Rugby competition. Sonny Bill Williams will play in the last pre-season match against the Hurricanes in Taupo on Friday 17 February and co-captain Liam Messam who has a calf muscle injury is expected to be available for the first round of Investec Super rugby when the Chiefs play the Highlanders at Waikato Stadium on Saturday 25 February.

The match on Saturday 11 February at the Queenstown Recreation Ground kicks off at 5.00pm and is free to attend.
