Chiefs on tour to Taupo

The Chiefs Investec Super Rugby team head to Taupo next Wednesday, via Te Kuiti for their final pre-season home game against the Hurricanes in Taupo on Friday 17 February.

The public are invited to attend an open Chiefs training session at Waitete Rugby Club in Te Kuiti at 11.30am on Wednesday 15 February which will be followed by an autograph session.

On Thursday 16 February at 3.30pm the team will run a Coaching Clinic for eight - twelve year old local players that have been invited to attend the session by King Country Rugby Union. The clinic will be held at Kaimanawa Reserve, Roberts Street, Taupo and the public are welcome to watch and take part in an autograph signing session afterwards.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is expected to utilize the match as final preparation ahead of the Chiefs round one match against the Highlanders at Waikato Stadium the following Saturday night. The Chiefs final pre-season match in Taupo against the Hurricanes will be Sonny Bill Williams first run with the side.

Families are encouraged to bring picnics into the park but no alcohol or commercially branded take-away food is allowed be taken into the ground. Food and beverage will be available on site.

Kick off for the Chiefs v Hurricanes pre-season match is at 6.35pm at Owen Delany Park in Taupo and tickets are available from www.ticketdirect.co.nz, www.chiefs.co.nz or at the gate on match day. Ticket prices start at $10 for adults and $5 for children plus a service fee. Kids under 14 are FREE on the embankment. Gates open at 5.30pm.
