Counting Down To The Rebel Sport Super 14

Seven and a half thousand fans will be on hand at the Mangatainoka RFC when the Hurricanes take on the Blues in a sold-out Rebel Sport Super 14 pre-season match this Saturday, 23 January.

That same day sees the Highlanders host the Chiefs at Carisbrook in Dunedin.

The 2010 Rebel Sport Super 14 season is just over three weeks away and franchises are stepping up their campaign preparations with pre-season games at venues around the country.

In other pre-season fixtures, the Chiefs travel to North Harbour Stadium to take on the Blues at the start of Auckland's Anniversary Weekend on Friday 29 January, while the Hurricanes take on the Brumbies at Porirua Park in Wellington the same day. The Highlanders will also travel to Fiji to take on a Suva Presidents XV on Saturday 30 January.

Super Rugby also hits the smaller provincial centres when the Crusaders host the Blues in Motueka on Thursday 4 February and the Chiefs take on the Hurricanes in Rotorua the next day.

This year marks the 15th year of Super Rugby and Week One of the competition kicks off at 7.35pm on Friday 12 February with the Blues against the Hurricanes at North Harbour Stadium.
