Dowd Makes Multiple Changes For North Harbour

Wellington, Aug 11 NZPA - North Harbour rugby coach Craig Dowd has responded to his team's loss to Tasman by making seven changes for the Air NZ Cup match against Otago on Thursday night.

North Harbour followed up their first round victory over reigning champions Canterbury by going down 15-19 to Tasman at home, a setback Dowd has not allowed to pass without a selection response.

All Black Luke McAlister has been installed at first five-eighth, demoting Mike Harris to the reserves bench.

Another change was forced on Dowd when wing Rudi Wulf injured himself at training today, with Ken Pisi named in his place and Nafi Tuitavake dropping to the bench.

Michael Mayhew will start at hooker in place of James Parson, who is out for an indefinite period after breaking an arm against Tasman.

Halfback Chris Smylie is being rested to treat a troublesome hamstring, with his jersey to be filled by Matt France.

Openside flanker Malakai Ravulo, prop James Afoa and No 8 Richard Mayhew have also been named to start, in front of Robbie Colhoun, Michael Reid and Viliame Ma'afu respectively.
