Ex Black Fern Appointed As Manager

Former Black Fern Hannah Porter (nee Myers) will call on her eight years experience in the black jersey to help her when she takes on the role as Manager of the team in their quest for a fourth Women's Rugby World Cup in August.

Playing her provincial rugby originally in Otago and then in Auckland, Porter first represented New Zealand in 2000.

She played 22 games for the Black Ferns between 2000 and 2008 and was a member of the winning Women's Rugby World Cup side in Barcelona and Edmonton in 2002 and 2006 respectively.

Porter also captained the New Zealand Women's Sevens side at the inaugural Rugby Sevens World Cup in Dubai last year.

Porter said the job will be an exciting challenge but one she is looking forward to.

"It will be very different experiencing a World Cup from the other side. I was lucky enough to experience many years as a player and I hope that knowledge will assist me in this role," added Porter.

She is currently the Professional Development Manager for the North Harbour Rugby Union and also worked as the fitness trainer to the Cook Islands Sevens team from 2002 to 2005.
