Pakistan couldn't do it. The West Indies couldn't do it. Both teams wouldn't do it for fear of the elation that comes with winning. New Zealand has done it. Twice. Where the bloody hell is the cricketing competition? In New Zealand. That's where. A T20 game and now a ODI match. The Aussies have fallen. About bloody time.
If you saw the Australian summer of cricket for the past, what, three of four months, then you may have noticed the Aussies spent a summer undefeated on home soil. Tests, One Dayers and T20s. The time came for the lucky country to lose some luck and finally taste the sour taste of defeat. Stand in captain NZ Ross Taylor high scored in the first ODI in Napier with 70 off 71 balls.
It's about time a nation gave the Aussies a run for their money. And how sweet it was for the Black Caps to be the ones to bring the Skips in line. For the Australian audience it was a summer of monotony, wins, wins and more wins in all forms of the game. West Indian Chris Gayle won a man of the match for some good batting but that was the only highlight for the tourists.
The Aussies went through a few squad changes throughout the summer, bringing in hopefuls for future first class cricket possibilities, but all of which were inexperienced. The summer turned out to burn all of the tourists in the end, though. The unstoppable cricket machine has finally halted and the guaranteed win is no longer guaranteed.
A severe lack of crowds at all venues across the nation, arguably due to a lack of competition, drew fear from the national broadcaster of cricket within the country. Long gone are the days of a tri-nation series which also draws great crowds. Does anyone remember the tri-nation series table? The rising suspense whilst watching a game and hoping a team wins or loses by a certain amount of runs to keep them in or out of the finals? I do. But vaguely.
Anyway. I'm no sports writer. Obviously. But the point remains that the Australian Cricket team has somehow come out on top all through the summer and off they choof to New Zealand and lose a T20 and an ODI. So sweet to see. Maybe Victorian batsman and all round good guy Brad Hodge will be called to duty. Sure, we all love Cameron White and sure, Shane Watson can go get screwed and be replaced by Brad Hodge. I think the Aussies need some sure fire power behind them and only Victorians can do it. Oh, and keep Hussey. Let's hope Vittori gets well soon. I'm no sports writer but I love cricket.

I fancy myself as a bit of an amateur sports writer. Despite been nothing like a sports article this was funny and enjoyable. I remember the good ol world series cup with nz v aust and eng or sa. These past two games have given this series the boost that it needed. Many were saying it could be a whitewash after Australia did that to Pak and WI. They also have been very entertaining games with lost of runs and wickets. So keep it up black caps and win the chappell-hadlee.
