The 2009 Formula 1 season has been a wild ride for both fans and competitors and with it now at an end we can take a collective sigh of relief. Not because we haven’t all enjoyed this season, but because it’s been such a mad one!  It felt like we were all holding our breath waiting to see which crazy turn the competition would take with each race.  It’s not only been a season of crazy happenings on the track but there has been a fair share of craziness off it as well. However, let’s look at the results.

In the constructors championship,  Brawn took the crown in what can only be seen as an amazing turnaround, with the team having nearly not made it to the track for the start of the season. Second place went to Red Bull Racing, 3rd McLaren, 4th Ferrari, 5th Toyota, 6th BMW, 7th Williams, 8th Renault, 9th Force India, and lucky last in 10th place, Toro Rosso.

In the drivers championship, Brawn's Jenson Button picked up his first world title, which again was a huge career turn for him.  After a few glimpses of greatness early in his career, he seemed to have pretty much resigned himself to a mediocre racing life with his past teams failing to utilise his talent. This season, however, he has been a much deserved winner.  Second place went to Sebastian Vettel, 3rd Rubens Barrichello, 4th Mark Webber, 5th Lewis Hamilton, 6th Kimi Raikkonen, 7th Nico Rosberg, 8th Jarno Trulli, 9th Fernando Alonso, and to round out the top 10, Timo Glock.

So with season 2009 now over it’s only 120 days to wait until the next season starts.  Bring it on!
