9th July 2009 - With only a few days until race 9 there really isn’t much news to tell. With all the dramas that have been befalling the sport of late we have come to expect major news every week. Instead we are left with a sense of quiet and calmness in the build up for this weekends race.

The only real news has been Ross Brawn, of Team Brawn, being honoured with the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) Award for the Most Outstanding Contribution to the Motorsport Industry. Previous winners include Formula One greats such as Sid Watkins, Frank Williams, Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart and Bernie Ecclestone. During a 33-year career in motorsport Brawn has won eight championships with Benetton and Ferrari, and is now enjoying his current success with his own team Brawn Racing.

MIA CEO Chris Aylett had this to say - “His exceptional race engineering talent is coupled with integrity, sincerity and humility - a rare combination in this aggressive competitive sport. His personal contribution has benefited many in this global industry - employees, suppliers and drivers. His influence makes motorsport and F1 a better place to be.

"Ross is a great inspiration to young engineers who we need to help us improve our future. As patron of Formula Student for example, he is putting something back into tomorrow’s generation. F1 leaders can be great ambassadors for global motorsport - Ross is one of the new breed who will ensure its popularity will last well into the future..”

The event was attended by over 300 guests, including Ministers of State, Ambassadors, VIPs, MIA members and leaders from the world of motorsport.

There really isn’t much to report from the world of F1 other than it's looking to be an exciting race this weekend as the title race between Red Bull and Brawn heats up.
