Southern motorsport fans have the opportunity of a lifetime in store! Few get an opportunity to even enjoy watching a Formula One race car unless they venture overseas let alone go for a blast in one but Southlanders will get that very rare opportunity during the Evolution Motorsport Classic SpeedFest at Teretonga Park next weekend, (21/22 February).

The opportunity will be available to ride in the 3-seater Arrows Formula One car which is being brought south by Formula One Rides NZ in conjunction with SpeedFest. The car is a modified chassis used by the Arrows F1 team in 2000 in the hands of Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa and Dutchman Jos Verstappen. The car is powered by a 3.5 litre V10 Hart engine which revs to 15000 rpm and produces 720 hp. The car utilises a 6 speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift and has a top speed of 330 km/h. Well credentialed kiwi Andrew Higgins will be the driver for the experience of a lifetime. Higgins, the 2014 Formula 5000 Champion, has also raced in New Zealand Formula Ford, the Toyota Racing Series, Endurance Racing and in the Nurburgring 24 hour race. The ride is an adrenalin rush of the highest order, the seating configuration of the Arrows allowing the passengers to see the track and feel the wind buffeting and g-forces the Formula 1 pilots experience at racing speeds. Robert Broek of Formula 1 Rides NZ promises a "real thrill" and says the crew are looking forward to bringing this awesome opportunity to Teretonga.

The car was in the pits during last year's SpeedFest and created a huge amount of interest. This year the opportunity to ride in the car will be mind blowing while even those who don't will be able to enjoy the pure sound of a recent Formula 1 car. Inquiries and bookings can be made with Formula 1 Rides NZ - 0800 F1 RIDE (0800 317 433).

The company's website can be found at Conditions do apply for passengers but these can be discussed with Formula 1 Rides NZ.
