Yet another example of why non-golfers think golf is too hard to play especially when you also have to contend with the ridiculous rule-book.

Geoff Shackelford writes, “Rules Under Fire (Again): "We have a lot of stupid rules in golf."
But before I get into it. Consider my experience this weekend.
A very good golfing friend who’s an excellent golfer and thinks he knows the rules. He should given he’s played the game for decades, took relief from a cart path. However a small part of one of his heels was still resting on the cart path.
Stupid rule or not. The player must take full relief and not have any part of his body on the area from which he’s taking relief. Of course he could have played from the cart path but don’t let’s go there.

Now back to Geoff.
“Matthew Rudy on the Carl Pettersson violation Sunday at the PGA which led to a two-shot penalty. Here is the PGA of America's statement.
Pettersson was not pleased after the round:
"I double checked with the official to make sure I could brush the grass as long as I didn't put any weight on the ground with the clubhead, and he said sure," said Pettersson about his shot on the first hole. "I wish he would have mentioned the leaves, too. I was just trying to hit the ball. I didn't even think twice about it."

Carnaptious and camsteerie comments, “As tough a rule as it may seem, there is nothing inherently wrong with this rule. What if the loose impediment had been a branch. Should one be allowed to move it? To me, this is tantamount to improving your lie which surely must fly in the face of what it means to be in a hazard in the first place!”

And of course he’s right but be aware that you’ll be a brave man or woman at your golf course should you pull the - You hit a leaf on your backswing rule.

In case you hadn’t heard.
Lydia Ko has won the US Women's Amateur, beating Jaye Marie Green 3 and 1 in the 36-hole final at The Country Club.
Ko, the South Korean-born New Zealander who tops the world amateur rankings, won at 15 years, 3 months, 18 days to become the second-youngest winner in tournament history.

Quote of the Day
"Oh my gosh, I don't want this day to end…I've never had that people be so supportive. Lydia has such a great attitude, in that she laughs at everything and she's fun to play with." - Jaye Marie Green commenting on her final’s match with Lydia
