“In what feels like “The Year of the Collapse” with so many PGA Tour pros blowing leads in big events, Ko put on a clinic in how to close out a victory. The exhibition has to flummox the LPGA veterans who watched this kid roll over one of their strongest fields of the year. It also has to scare them a little bit. Who else is coming behind Ko and Lexi Thompson?” - Randall Mell reflecting on Lydia’s memorable win at the CN Canadian Women’s Open.
Suzann Pettersen, age 31 said, "It feels like you're being beaten by a kid." And then according to John Strege, “Pettersen made the argument that Ko's age allowed her to play carefree, providing an advantage against those for whom this is a livelihood. "She's too young to understand where she's at," Pettersen had said. Moreover, Ko had nothing to lose, notably money. The $300,000 first-prize money went to runner-up Inbee Park. Ko received only a trophy for her effort.
Yeah right Suzann! No pressure to perform ‘cause you’re only No 1 in the Women's amateur golf world so there’s no weight on Lydia's shoulders.
John writes, “The counter argument suggests that this was less a fluke than North America's introduction to the future of women's golf. Ko, in fact, has won on the professional level before -- in January, while still 14, she won the Women's NSW Open on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf tour.”
TheBigPro commenting on John’s blog writes, “Taking nothing away from child prodigies Michelle Wie or Lexi Thompson - but the maturity of this young lady is light-years ahead of where either of these two were at the same age (15). I would venture to bet she surpasses both of the two aforementioned young golfers by the time her professional golf career is completed.”

Quote of the Day
“Kids making headlines is not a novelty on the LPGA. Another precocious teen, Michelle Wie, was doing likewise when she was 15, but as good as she was…she was not winning an LPGA event.” – John Strege
