“The Harrison Shotmaker is definitely one of the most impressive golf technologies for 2011…it might be the biggest in the last 5 years! I can honestly say, I recommend EVERYONE contact Harrison immediately about getting one for their driver.  A product that helps your game this much this easy only comes around so often.” This from a website just discovered thanks to a Google Reader recommendation.

So what’s shocking about the Harrison Shotmaker? The MyGolfSpy Labs, ‘…had to choose a first product to put through the lab and this one surely does not disappoint.  It’s called the Harrison Shotmaker and the results are nothing less than SHOCKING!’

The MyGolfSpy Labs advise, ‘The Shotmaker is the first USGA rules conforming accuracy boosting shaft insert of its kind. It’s a removable insert (aprox. 12″ long & weighing only 4 grams) that is made with ultra-thin-ply graphite (UTP). The most vulnerable section of a golf shaft is its tip section. The Shotmaker insert significantly stabilizes the tip section of the shaft, resulting in greater accuracy. The insert prevents excessive vibration and deformation and Harrison claims it improves accuracy up to 40%’

The shockingly good news is that the lab tests appear to confirm the manufacturer’s hype.

I know nothing about shaft inserts and even less about the credibility of Harrison or MyGolfSpy however if they are to believed you’d better do your homework and click on the link to make sure you’re not left behind in the accuracy stakes in the rounds and years ahead.

I was going to write about ungainly “Two Gloves” Gainey until discovering the news about the Harrison Shotmaker. Suffice to say at this stage I agree with Craig Dolch at, ‘Funny swing and all, Gainey overlooked no more’.

Likewise I agree, ‘Gainey's emergence this year has been great for the game…Too many pro golfers swing alike, dress alike, have similar workout routines and say the same things…’

In the past I’ve been one of a band of writers who’ve been critical of the clone culture, particularly on the US Tour but times they are a changing thanks to the likes of  “Two Gloves”, “Bubba and Boo.

Here’s the link to MyGolfSpy and Craig.

Quote of the Day

"I don't worry about what people say about my swing. I know it's unorthodox, I know it's ugly, but it works. It's comfortable for me, and that's just something I've always done. I was always told ... if it's not broke, don't fix it."
