'New Zealand's newest beachside golf course is to open on October 1 with membership by invitation only and fees in the tens of thousands’. That’s from Anne Gibson, Property editor of the NZ Herald and my initial reaction is, “Yet another brand new, New Zealand golf course it’s unlikely that many Kiwis can afford or even worse will even have the opportunity to play.’ That’s from my blog post, dated August 31, 2015

Something special
So there I am searching for a course review and wishing to do a catch up, in the knowledge that given the course’s exclusivity it was highly unlikely that I’d find anything on Trip Advisor.
Bingo! I found the best golf course review people in the world.
Golf Club Atlas has a legendary reputation and their review leads off with, “The Pacific Ocean is nice to play beside (!) but the quality of the golf-not the views-is what makes Tara Iti special.

Alas I’m unable to cut and paste parts of their description of the course so you’ll have to click on the link provided and do yourself a favour and make sure you can afford the time before going there. It’s bound to motivate you to do some networking with the rich and famous to get a game there.

Tara Iti is unique
Tara Iti is nothing like Cape Kidnappers, Kauri Cliffs, The Hills or my beloved Jack’s Point. It’s the nearest thing you’ll find in New Zealand to Barnbougle Dunes or Bandon Dunes. The bad news is you’ll have to go to Barnbougle or Bandon unless you’ve got the right Kiwi connections.

Quote of the Day
“A golf course is a living thing that organically changes over time. That’s exactly what you want to happen, too.” – Tom Doak
