"I've spent a tremendous amount of money - debt-free, no debt on the property, nothing - building what many are already considering to be the greatest golf course anywhere in the world.”
That’s Donald Trump talking about his, about to open to the general public, Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire
STV reports, “Donald Trump tees off at grand opening of controversial £100m golf course… The businessman will cut a ribbon on the first tee to mark the opening and will hit the first balls with former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie and 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie.
My first impressions based on the very fine photographs is that it’s a fabulous looking golf course. A kind of rich man’s Cruden Bay. And in spite of my dislike of the politics of Trump’s approval to build his, “greatest golf course anywhere in the world” I have no reservations about playing the “environmentally important stretches of coastline.”
At Non-Resident Fees of Weekday Rate: £150.00 Weekend Rate: £200.00 it’s decidedly doable for the experience of playing what will undoubtedly become a Must Play for many.
The Scotsman headline reads
“DONALD Trump was yesterday branded a “bullyboy billionaire” who has turned one of Scotland’s most environmentally important stretches of coastline into an “alien landscape” as he flew into Aberdeen for the grand opening of the “world’s greatest golf course”.
Stage one won. Let the battle recommence. Scottish ministers will make the final decision on whether to approve the £150m wind farm project which the Donald doesn’t want spoiling his views.
“The way successive First Ministers, council leaders and industry sucked up to this bullyboy billionaire was utterly shameful.” - Patrick Harvie, the leader of the Scottish Green Party
