New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is disappointed and saddened by the recent attack made by John Parker and some unnamed individuals on NZC, BLACKCAPS Captain Brendon McCullum, senior players in the team, Coach Mike Hesson, and other former players.

There is nothing new in the material produced by John Parker and the issues involved have been widely and publicly discussed over recent months. There is an inference the Parker material came from a recent NZC meeting with former test captains. This is untrue.

The material consists of hearsay, speculation and rumour and appears to concentrate almost entirely on attempting to re-litigate the issues surrounding the replacement of Ross Taylor as BLACKCAPS Captain. Ross Taylor remains a vital component of the team and valued member of the New Zealand cricket family. NZC remains committed to supporting Ross's return to form as the world class player we know him to be.

It contains serious and untrue allegations against senior players in the team and other former players.

NZC CEO David White says, "New Zealand Cricket utterly rejects the attack made on Brendon McCullum. At no time was Brendon McCullum in any way personally involved in the replacement of Ross Taylor as Captain. Brendon behaved honourably at all times in this matter. He has subsequently gone on to prove himself an excellent leader and an inspiration to both younger and older members of the team and the results of his efforts have since been seen an improved BLACKCAPS performance on the field."

"The allegations raised by John Parker and the anonymous group of critics are divisive, untrue and reflect poorly on them rather than the players they have wrongly attacked."

John Parker has stated he wants, ideally, the NZC Board to be entirely composed of former test players and first class cricketers. It should be noted that NZC Chairman Chris Moller has repeatedly invited former players to put themselves forward for the upcoming Board election process, there is a Constitutional Review underway and John Parker’s views on the NZC Constitutional Review have been heard as part of that process.

"Attacks such as this are divisive and unhelpful. For the sake of the game the focus should now been on the BLACKCAPS upcoming tour of England" says David White.
