19 June 2008 - By Jeanette Smyth The third round of the 2008 Top Half Series hits Kartsport Mt Wellington's Tainui Rd track this Sunday, June 22. After two closely contested rounds of the popular upper North Island series Whangarei's Thomas McLean goes into this round leading the Cadet class, as does Auckland's Aaron Wilson in Junior Restricted. Meanwhile the Mt Wellington duo of Arie Hutton & Tom Blomqvist lead Junior Yamaha & Formula Junior respectively, with Hutton having a commanding lead in his class.

Senior Yamaha Light, to date, sees Mat Kinsman & David Meszaros tied in first equal with this third round on Kinsman's familiar hunting ground.

Stuart Marshall leads Senior Yamaha Light, Kane Taylor has a substantial lead in Senior Rotax Light & Hamilton's Mike Grimshaw heads the Senior Rotax Heavy class. The race format is four pre-determined grid races followed by a final gridded from highest points over the previous races. All heats count towards a drivers overall series points with their two worst results over the series being dropped at the conclusion of the final round. This makes for mind-bending arithmetic as drivers progress through the series, although bottom line - it is consistency that pays off.

Gates to the complex open at 6.30am Sunday morning, with scrutineering and documentation commencing at 7.00am. Racing should kick off around 10.30am.
