The Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series kicks off on Saturday 1 October with a 5km, 10km and half marathon option on the Hawea River Track suitable for all ages and abilities.

With the ski season drawing to close, the series is great way to kick start the summer training. Race director Victoria Murray-Orr says the race offers the best of both worlds, combining running with the last turns of the ski season.

"What a great way to spend the weekend - a great pre-season hit-out on one of the region's most spectacular running tracks on the Saturday followed by getting the last of the season's turns at TC or Cardrona on Sunday - perfect!" she said.

There is a fantastic prize pool up for grabs including cash prizes for place getters, plus plenty of spot prizes including vouchers for local cafes, restaurants, luxury accommodation at Riverrun, Revive massage treatments, book vouchers, outdoor gear, entries to the local swimming pool, sportsbands, supermarket vouchers, Rippon wine, passes for ProActive and much more.

Wanaka Health will be offering sports massage, treatments and assessments pre and post event for runners requiring some helping warming up or down. The Coffee Guy will also be serving fresh coffee at the start and finish line areas.
