23rd November 2009 Hamilton, New Zealand

The Northern Knights have named their team for their first match in Hamilton for the season. The Knights currently lead the Plunket Shield after two rounds. The Knights play the Wellington Firebirds at Seddon Park in round three, starting on Tuesday.

The team has three changes from that which won outright against the Central Stags in round two. Brent Arnel rejoins the side after playing for the New Zealand A team last week in Queenstown. Tim Southee and BJ Watling join the Knights for the first time this season having both been with the BLACKCAPS overseas and then with the New Zealand A team last week also.

They are replacing Graeme Aldridge and Trent Boult who are both being rested due to slight injury concerns. Jono Boult is unlucky to also miss out having top scored in the Northern Knights first innings score of 279 last week, when he made 76 batting at number 8.

Daniel Flynn and Daniel Vettori are playing for the BLACKCAPS in the first test versus Pakistan.

The eleven selected for the Firebirds match are:

James Marshall (Captain) Northland Brent Arnel Hamilton Anton Devcich Hamilton Peter McGlashan Counties Manukau Michael Parlane Northland Bradley Scott Hamilton Tim Southee Northland BJ Watling Hamilton Kane Williamson Bay of Plenty Brad Wilson Northland Joseph Yovich Northland

The Classic Hits 98.6 ZHFM Northern Districts A team has its first match this week against Auckland A in Auckland.
