Sydney, March 20 NZPA - New Zealand have continued their progression through pool play without conceding a point at the world rugby sevens series tournament in Adelaide, opening today with a 26-0 defeat of Tonga.
New Zealand started pool A with a 31-0 win over Scotland last night and laid on another four tries at Adelaide Oval ahead of their final round robin match with Argentina later tonight (10.20pm start NZT).
The overall series leaders made light of the first-half sinbinning of veteran Zar Lawrence as tries to Nafi Tuitavake, Ben Souness, Tomasi Cama and DJ Forbes put paid to the Pacific islanders' challenge.
In other early matches Fiji atoned for a shock 12-17 loss to Wales in pool C to thrash Papua New Guinea 41-0 while the Welsh lost 5-19 to sevens specialists Kenya.
Samoa remain unbeaten in pool B thanks to a 54-5 romp against Japan.
New Zealand 26 (Tomasi Cama, Nafi Tuitavake, Ben Souness, DJ Forbes tries; Cama 3 con). Halftime: 12-0.
