NZ Cricket Loses Domestic Sponsor

Wellington June 4 NZPA - New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is on a hunt for a new major sponsor after long-time supporters State Insurance opted not to renew its alliance with domestic competitions, after a decade of involvement.

State's sponsorship covered the men's inter-provincial four-day, one-day, Twenty20, the women's one-day competitions as well as team naming rights.

State's relationship with domestic cricket had reached the end of its natural life-cycle said its executive general manager, marketing and reputation, Vena Crawley.

NZC chief executive Justin Vaughan said despite State's departure, cricket's sponsorship programme was in very good health.

"This is a rare opportunity for new commercial partners to invest in a sport that sees hundreds of thousands of Kiwis participating and watching every summer."
