30 April 2008 - Former top New Zealand sports dietician, Jeni Pearce, has been appointed nutritionist for the British Olympic team for the Beijing games. Pearce will work closely with Britains elite athletes for four weeks when they go into their training camp in Macau, near Hong Kong, and during the Olympics. For the past year, Pearce has been based in England preparing Britains elite athletes for international competition as southern lead nutritionist for the English Institute of Sport. After the Olympics, she will return to her role with the EIS and will be based in London to plan for the Olympic Games in London in 2012. Its a great honour to be selected to work with the British team, says Pearce. Pearce is known for her role in world yacht racing as well as helping many champion athletes. She is also a prolific author having written 14 books, mostly on nutrition, for international publisher, Reeds, selling over 130,000 copies.
