Wellington, Oct 9 NZPA - Jacob Oram topscored with 57 as New Zealand posted 201 for nine in the first one-day cricket international against Bangladesh at Mirpur today.

Oram, batting at No 7, came to the rescue when the tourists slumped to 79 for six after being asked to bat first in damp, cloudy conditions.

He held the innings together while other useful contributions came from opener Jesse Ryder with 34 and Daniel Vettori 30.

The pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers was seamer Mashrafe Mortaza, who extracted early sideways movement before ending with figures of four for 44 off 10 overs, while left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak collected three for 32.
