Wellington, Dec 3 NZPA - New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first in the weather-affected second cricket test at the Basin Reserve here today.

New Zealand has made one injury-enforced change to the line-up that won the first test by 32 runs in Dunedin last weekend.

Fast bowler Shane Bond (abdominal tear) has been replaced by Daryl Tuffey, who plays his first test since 2004 in England.

Pakistan has drafted in middle order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq, who arrived in the country on Monday, for Fawad Alam while opener Khurram M5anzoor has been replaced at the top of the order by Salman Butt.

Legspinner Danish Kaneria also comes on for offspinner Saeed Ajmal.

The toss was originally expected to be held at 12.15pm but was delayed after both captains were concerned about the state of the bowler's run-up at the RA Vance Stand end -- over ruling a decision by umpires Simon Taufel and Rudi Koertzen to start play at 12.45pm.

Play starts after an early lunch at 2.10pm. There are 83 overs scheduled to be bowled today with play able to continue to 8pm, light permitting.

Tim Southee has been released from the squad to play for Northern Districts in their Plunket Shield match at Auckland today.
