Chief executive Jim Doyle said the New Zealand Rugby League's new senior management team was now complete after the appointment today of Trina Tamati in the newly-created role of marketing and sponsorship manager.
While announcing Auckland-born, Hawke's Bay-raised Tamati is to join the NZRL in the New Year, Doyle also confirmed Aucklander Daniel Floyd as the new coaching and development manager.
Doyle said Tamati and Floyd both had outstanding credentials for their roles.
"The calibre of applicants for the positions was terrific but Trina and Daniel came through as the best candidates for these roles. We're delighted they're coming on board," he said.
"These appointments mean we're in a good position to hit the ground running in 2010.
"There is so much we have to do to achieve our goals to rebuild rugby league in this country but with these appointments and that of Tony Kemp as football manager earlier this month we're making real progress."
Tamati, a niece of long-serving former Kiwi internationals Howie and Kevin Tamati, has been involved in a wide range of roles over the past 14 years in marketing, communications, sponsorship, event management, public relations and advertising.
Doyle said she will bring significant experience through her marketing and sponsorship background with brands such as Nike, BP, PlayStation and Telstra. She also has experience working with the Canterbury Rugby Union.
"Trina left New Zealand eight years ago to gain international experience in both the United Kingdom and Australia and she's excited about returning home to take up this role," he said.
Floyd has been involved in a number of roles as a rugby league player and administrator for the past 12 years.
As a player, he excelled for the Hibiscus Coast Raiders in the Bartercard Cup while also playing for Auckland and New Zealand representative sides.
Floyd has spent the last four and a half years as coaching development officer for the Auckland Rugby League and was recently promoted to football development manager. He holds all NZRL coaching accreditations as well as a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation.
"Daniel has great qualities in this field and he's extremely excited about the chance he has to help us to grow the game in New Zealand," said Doyle.
He added that as a result of today's announcements, current general manager Peter Cordtz would be finishing his term with the NZRL.
"We appreciate the contribution Peter has made in his time with the NZRL and we all wish him the best for the future," said Doyle.
"Personally I thank him for the support he has given me over the last few months since I joined the NZRL."
Doyle said there were two positions left to be filled the team - high performance manager (a replacement for Kemp) and the newly-created junior level position of communications officer. These will be finalised in the New Year.
