The New Zealand Rugby League will stage Community Roots Camps in Wellington and Auckland over the next two weekends.
The free events fit in with the NZRL's strategy to rejuvenate the game at grass roots level.
The first of the camps will be held at Pelorus Trust Sports House, the Wellington Rugby League's headquarters in Seaview, on Sunday, March 21. Among the NZRL staff involved will be former Kiwi captain Ruben Wiki, now the NZRL's high performance manager.
And Wiki will be involved again a week later when the Auckland event is held at his old school Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate in Otara on Sunday, March 28.
The feature of the camps will be the introduction of the new certificate for the NZRL's popular mini and modified rugby league models (more commonly known as mini and mod footy).
Anyone already involved in rugby league, or who wants to become involved, is invited to attend the camps. The programme for each event begins at 8.30am with registration for coaches, trainers, managers and referees with player registrations at 2.00pm.
