20 October 2008 - The Otago Rugby Football Union is advertising the positions of coach and assistant coach for its team in the Air New Zealand Cup next year.

Union chief executive Richard Reid said the board decision to advertise the position reflected the fact that the coaches contracts are coming to an end and was, in part, due to disappointing results in 2008.

Steve Martin has been coach since 2006 and gained Bruce Carvell as his assistant last year. "Since he and Bruce are a team, both positions are being advertised and of course Steve and Bruce are welcome to reapply", Reid commented.

Reid said the position(s) being advertised was only for 2009 because of uncertainty about the future shape of the Air NZ Cup. "Although we know the playing parameters we are yet unaware as to how the proposed changes to Super rugby will impact on playing & coaching personnel for 2010 & beyond".

He said it was hoped to complete the appointment process within a month.
