Draft Future Tours Programme post-2012 approved in principal

The ICC Board met in Johannesburg today on day one of a two-day meeting, one of the four scheduled meetings it holds in a year.

Future Tours Programme post-2012

With the current Future Tours Programme (FTP) due to conclude in May 2012, a detailed process has been ongoing with the objective of developing a programme for the period post-2012. At the meeting today, the ICC Board approved in principle the draft FTP post-2012 as recommended by the ICC Chief Executives' Committee last week.

The draft programme was agreed subject to no Member being disadvantaged relative to the current FTP.

The executive of the ICC will now carry out a commercial evaluation of the FTP and draft a revision to the FTP regulation as a consequence of the changes contained in the draft. The ICC and its Members will continue to consider ways of enhancing the promotion of international cricket and in particular, ways of providing context to Test and ODI cricket.

ICC Anti-Doping Code

With challenges surrounding the issue of players filing the "whereabouts" information, the Board considered the matter and discussions are ongoing.

The ICC Board maintains a zero-tolerance approach to doping in cricket and in the meantime, in-competition and out-of-competition drug testing of all international cricketers will continue as usual.

Development

The Board received an update on the Pepsi ICC Development Programme and heard specifically from ICC Principal Advisor IS Bindra on the work currently underway to promote cricket in the United States and China. As part of his report, Mr Bindra highlighted the development potential in both the USA and China and encouraged all Full Members to play more competitive cricket in those countries.

ICC Codes

The Board unanimously approved a new and enhanced ICC Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption Code and Anti-Racism Code.

Task team updates

The Board received updates from a number of task teams, including those charged with looking into the areas of Zimbabwe, Pakistan and general security around international cricket.

Present at today's meeting were the chairman or president from each of the 10 Full Members plus three Associate Member representatives. Also present was the ICC President, who chairs proceedings, and the ICC Chief Executive, as well as, by invitation of the President, the ICC Principal Advisor.

Media arrangements

The meeting continues and concludes tomorrow.

ICC President David Morgan and ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat will take part in a media conference after the second day of the meeting, which is being held at the Michelangelo Hotel, Sandton, Johannesburg.

The media conference will take place in the hotel's L'Incontro Square room. The time for Wednesday's conference will not be before 1300.
