RFU Podcast: Cambridge Back To Winning Ways

Cambridge are back on top after beating Oxford 31-27 in the 128th Nomura Varsity Match.

The men in light blue took the Nomura Trophy in front of 30,000 fans, scoring three tries in ten minutes during the second half and now lead Oxford by 61 wins to 53.

"We were so disappointed last year all we've been doing is focussing on this win and this is the cherry on the top of a great season." Cambridge's Man of the Match James Richards (Hughes Hall) told this week's rfu podcast.

"It's been tough we've had some setbacks with injuries. We knew they were going to run everything that's how they play but we knew we couldn't let them over our line. We had some good tries, some lucky tries!"

It was disappointment for last year's winners Oxford, led by Worcester's Dan Rosen the men in dark blue were hoping for back to back victories at The Home of England Rugby.

Said Oxford's Nick Haydon, "We had quite a bit of possession in the first half. I thought Cambridge did well at the break down, we like to play a fast paced game and they didn't allow us to do that and they capitalised on our mistakes."
