A record Rugby crowd has turned out for the third and final Test of the Castrol EDGE Wales Tour this afternoon at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

In a return to the Moore Park precinct for the first time since 1998, 42,889 Rugby fans have helped eclipse the previous crowd record for a Rugby match of 41,917 set in 1994 when the Wallabies took on the All Blacks.

The record crowd was building from 8:15am when the first Member started queuing ahead of the Qantas Wallabies' showdown with the Six Nations champions.

The crowd fell just 1,078 short of the ground record for a sporting fixture of 43,967 set in 1993 when the Socceroos met Argentina in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
