Seymour To Lead Vodafone Warriors In Trial Against Roosters

New signing Brett Seymour will captain the Vodafone Warriors in his first appearance for the club in today's first 2010 NRL trial against the Sydney Roosters at Rotorua International Stadium.

With 2010 captain Simon Mannering, Micheal Luck and Steve Price not available today due to injury, coach Ivan Cleary has given his new halfback the job of leading.

Apart from Seymour, the Vodafone Warriors will be able to call on significant NRL experience from fullback Wade McKinnon, Patrick Ah Van and Joel Moon in the centres, hooker Ian Henderson and back rower Jacob Lillyman while prop Jesse Royal is included on a 10-man bench. Also lining up are front rower Russell Packer and 2009 Kiwi Bemn Matulino.

Around the more experienced men are several players who arrived on the NRL scene last season in new recruits James Maloney and prop Jeremy Latimore, winger Kevin Locke, second rowers Lewis Brown and Ukuma Ta'ai, utility Aaron Heremaia, standoff-halfback Isaac John and centre Suiatonga Likiliki.

Maloney, who played four times for the Melbourne Storm last year, will start in the halves with Seymour. John, Moon and Shaun Johnson, who starred for the Vodafone Junior Warriors in the NYC last year, are all likely to spend time in the halves in today's trial.

The match will be played in quarters with unlimited interchange.
