While presenting Adam Scott with the Stonehaven Cup Greg Norman was seen up close and personal with Adam Scott.
And according to Brian O’Hare writing for the Australian Senior Golfer; A media representative asked Adam Scott, “Did he [Greg] give you a little kiss to the side of the head or whisper sweet nothings?”
Kissing another bloke or whispering sweet nothings is not your average Aussie male’s way of doing things. So it’s not surprising that Greg simply said; “It’s about bloody time Adam!”
“Asked how it felt to be handed the trophy by Greg Norman, Scott spoke of their close relationship over the years.“Obviously he is a big supporter of mine and I wish I could have played this well for him at the President’s Cup. We just got beaten by a better team that week,” he said.”
I also liked this passage from Brian O’Hare;“Given his sometime party boy image, Scott is a surprisingly quietly spoken and reflective person. His Queensland heritage comes to the fore at times when he slips in the occasionally “colourful” expression.
The Queen might of said his year was a “annus horribilis”. He just said it was “shitty.”
Kinda sounds like 2009 for me-Come this Saturday afternoon’s annual prize-giving awards at my home club. I shall try to refrain from using profanities when questioned about my non-appearance at the winner’s circle.
So there I was reading The Scotsman headline, “Plumbing tycoon to sink £30m into golf icon” and came across an interesting comment about Hamilton Hall-The aforementioned icon which is very conspicuously located behind the 18th green on the Old Course.
Frank Urquhart writes, “Yesterday it was revealed that the imposing four-storey building is finally to be restored to its former glory by Herb Kohler, a plumbing magnate who is one of the United States' richest tycoons and owner of the nearby Old Course Hotel.
Hamilton Hall, a former halls of residence originally opened as the Grand Hotel 104 years ago, has been slowly deteriorating since 2004 when St Andrews University sold the building to a US real estate company.”
I’ve often wondered why those in power at St Andrews Town Council allowed a four-storey building to tower over the R & A’s clubhouse-Especially since I’ve never been able to capture an image of both buildings in a photograph without Hamilton Hall overpowering the R & A clubhouse.
Anyway back to Frank Urquhart’s interesting comment. “Hamilton Hall opened in St Andrews as the Grand Hotel in 1895. It was built by businessman Thomas Hamilton after he was reputedly rejected for membership of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club.”- An interesting and expensive response to rejection.

Now a link to some nice pics (It sure beats reading more about Tiger’s trouble.
There are some great pics of Cypress Point and if you’ll scroll down a bit you’ll come to “The "horseshoe" third green at Yeamans Hall, South Carolina”
Wow now that’s one really weird thing to do to a green.
Thought for the day.Our trip down south also took us to the Alexandra Golf Club.Really good golf course. Pity that the greens hadn’t quite come right after coring.
And here’s one for those golfer’s who love to name drop and make statements suggesting they have an encyclopedic knowledge of New Zealand golf.
Per capita ACG has more low-handicap golfers than any other course in NZ.
